A petition is a request to do something, most commonly addressed to a government official or public entity.
So this petition is basically about an Indonesian island that is going to lose all their rain forest by the year 2014 and by signing this petition you can prevent it from happening.
The island is called Aru island and its only 643 thousand hectares and 500 thousand hectares of it are going to be cut which means there's gonna be 143 thousand hectares left and that's very bad if you think about it. They're gonna cut it down not for a good cause, but they're gonna cut it to make a sugar cane plantation.
If we reached 100 more petition we can reverse the decision and prevent it from happening!
